TBSA (The Branson School Arts): SuperNatural
"Encounter"
Finding Inspiration through close observation
of the Natural World
Together we walked and observed the natural environs of Branson’s campus.
After a variety of exploration, the class arrived at the thematic anchor of “the trees of Branson.”
The resulting book is presented both as a serial wall display
and distributed in ‘zine and digital formats.

Conspiracy and Kinship
Conspiracy and Kinship
In Collaboration with Visiting Artists
from Cedars Fine Arts Studio
Conspire literally translates as “to breathe together.”
For this project Branson students worked in small groups paired with Cedars artists.
As inspired by the author, botanist and member of
Citizen Potawatomi Nation Robin Wall Kimmerer,
we explored indigenous ideals of human kinship with the
natural world - where trees are seen as our ancestors.
Together, the groups first invented a personality and history of a specific tree-being and then worked together to bring that story to life in sculptural form employing collected
natural elements.
